Are we massaging babies? PDF Print E-mail

No, we do not massage babies in this training or in our classes.

Our role is as 'Parent Educator'. In an effort to carry out our mission to empower families as caregivers and nurturers of their children, it is critical that when a baby has a family, we guide the family through the strokes. If we massage the baby, then we are assuming a role that does not belong to us. We are a stranger or not the primary caregiver - and the intimacy of the bond that is created through sharing the postive, safe, predictable and reliable experiences you can facilitate as a Parent Educator belongs to the baby's parents/primary caregivers/family, no one else.
